Topic: Preparing for trial and testifying tips for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
Objectives: After attending the in-service the nurse will be able to:
Discuss ramifications regarding testimony for the SANE with the Supreme Court Obeta ruling
Describe the steps to follow upon receipt of a subpoena to testify
Discuss the impact detailed documentation can have on a sexual assault case that goes to court
List 3 things you will be asked to describe when called to court to substantiate your skills and ability to testify in a sexual assault case
Discuss how to respond if asked a question you do not know the answer to, or if you cannot recall the details of a case while testifying
Describe the appropriate demeanor when testifying in court
