Conference Scholarships available

The Minnesota IAFN Chapter will award
three $500 scholarships to forensic nurses
from Minnesota to attend the annual

International Conference on Forensic Nursing Science and Practice 

Wednesday, October 24 – Saturday, October 27, 2018  in Reno, Nevada
Who May Apply? All Forensic Nurses practicing in Minnesota are encouraged to apply.
Scholarship applications need to be submitted by July 2, 2018
The applications will be evaluated by the MN IAFN Chapter Board.
The scholarship recipients  will be notified by email on July 16, 2018
 
Early registration discounted fee ends on July 31, 2018
($525 for IAFN members and  $650 for non-members)
The scholarships will be awarded after a copy of the conference registration
fee is submitted to mnforensicnurses@gmail.com

Advanced Topics SANE Conference September 14, 2018

All Day Advanced Topics SANE Conference
September 14, 2018

Topics include:

  • In-depth look at HIV and hepatitis B&C
  • Deep dive into the medications we offer our sexually assaulted patients, including antibiotics, HIV PEP, and emergency contraception
  • STI testing and treatment in the elderly, adolescent, and vulnerable adult populations
  • Difficult speculum exams
  • Case studies
  • 8 Contact Hours (We will apply for ANCC contact hours)

Our regular Education Event will be held on September 13, 1800-2030 with an interesting case study and networking event for the 1st
30 minutes (with food!). Hopefully this will further entice those traveling from outside the Twin Cities.   2 ANCC Contact Hours

The medical forensic exam is over – what is next for your patient?

Dr. Cindy Crandall is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in the treatment of trauma.
She will discuss treatment options for survivors of sexual violence, like EMDR and CBT.
She also will share what she has learned from survivors about their experiences with
SANEs and law enforcement. There will be time for discussion and questions.

Dr. Cindy Crandall is a Clinical Psychologist in Saint Louis Park.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Drake University
and her Doctorate of Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology.
She has worked in community mental health clinics, a federal prison, Park Nicollet,
and Hennepin County Medical Center.  She has been in private practice now for
13 years specializing in the treatment of trauma.
