Strangulation is one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence. Strangulation – Critical Issues You Can’t Afford To Miss will feature expert trainers from The Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention (, a program of the National Family Justice Center Alliance.

Expert trainers include:

Michael Weaver, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., Medical Director of the Forensic Care Program of St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri

Gael Strack, J.D., Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of the Family Justice Center Alliance and former Head Deputy City Attorney responsible for the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Unit of the San Diego City Attorney’s Office

Sergeant Daniel Rincon, 22-year veteran of the Scottsdale Police Department in Scottsdale, Arizona

This day-long, intensive training will provide in-depth, up-to-date information that will aid you in:

  • Increasing your knowledge of strangulation
  • Identifying the signs and symptoms of near-fatal strangulation
  • Identifying the anatomy and medical aspects of surviving and non-surviving victims
  • Investigating and documenting cases for prosecution
  • Effectively prosecuting cases, including using experts in court
  • Enhancing victim safety through trauma-informed advocacy services
